Under-Eye Hollowing & Darkness

Looking tired even after a full night’s sleep is one of the most common things people come to us with. The right treatment depends entirely on what’s causing it.

Under-Eye Hollowing & Darkness

Not all under-eye darkness is the same

Three things tend to create that shadowed look, and they’re often confused for each other. True hollowing is a loss of volume beneath the eye, which casts a shadow the way a dip in a surface does. Pigmentation is discolouration in the skin itself. Thin, translucent skin lets the vessels underneath show through. Plenty of people have a combination of two or three.

Where hollowing is the main cause, carefully placed filler or biostimulation restores support and softens the shadow. Where pigmentation or skin thinness is driving it, filler won’t help — and can occasionally make things look worse. Skin-focused treatment is the better route.

This is one of the most technically demanding areas of the face, with less margin for error than almost anywhere else. Assessment matters more here than the treatment itself, which is why we won’t book you straight in without seeing you first.

Anatomy of the Tear Trough

The under-eye area is one of the most complex features of the face. The skin here is the thinnest on the entire body. "Dark circles" are rarely just pigmentation; they are often caused by a "tear trough deformity"—a hollowing that creates a shadow under the eye. This can be caused by genetics, volume loss in the cheek, or the thinning of the skin revealing the dark orbicularis muscle underneath.

Specialised Treatment for Delicate Eyes

Because this area is so unforgiving, we use only the most advanced products and techniques.

  • Tear Trough Filler: We use a specialized, lightweight dermal filler to lift the skin away from the underlying bone. This fills the hollow, eliminating the shadow and making the under-eye area look flush with the cheek.
  • Polynucleotides (Rejuran): For clients who are not candidates for filler (due to fluid retention), we use Rejuran. This salmon-DNA derived treatment thickens the dermis and repairs skin quality, reducing transparency and darkness naturally.

Safety First

We prioritize safety above all else in this delicate area. We use blunt-tipped cannulas to minimize bruising and vascular risk. The result is a refreshed, "awake" look that can take years off your appearance.

FAQs

Answers to common questions about our injectable treatments and aesthetic services

Will Rejuran help with thin skin under my eyes?

Yes, Rejuran is derived from salmon DNA and is specifically designed to heal and thicken thin, fragile skin, making it one of the best treatments for the eye area.

What is the downtime for under-eye treatments?

You may experience mild swelling for a few days. Bruising is possible but reduced by the use of a cannula. Rejuran may leave small bumps that subside within 24 hours.

How quickly will I see results from Sunekos?

Sunekos requires a course of 3 to 4 treatments. You will typically start noticing a brightening effect and reduced dark circles a few weeks after your second session.
